Global Technology Systems announced that it has received the first of a series of orders for its specially designed NEOCELL^® battery packs to be used by the French National Railroad (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français) on its trains. When the rollout is complete, more than 16,500 long-running NEOCELL^® units will be installed.

These unique lightweight packs will provide auxiliary power for the HTC HD Touch PDA and data collection device used on the trains. Global Technology Systems was able to design and manufacture this new pack to meet the French National Railroad specifications and requirements within an extremely short period of 3 months. Additional applications for the same solution are also being discussed between the 2 parties.

Theo Grigoriou, President of Global’s European subsidiary stated: “No other company has the engineering resources, the technology, and design and manufacturing capability which could deliver the performance the French Railroad needed. This unique battery solution can be used not only for other railroads throughout Europe and Japan but also in a variety of other application where high capacity is required and cannot be integrated within the mobile computers. We are also plan to provide NEOCELL^® solutions for French Railroad’s other portable power requirements. Most conventional batteries are not capable of providing enough energy for today’s portable power requirements. NEOCELLS^® are break-through technology. For the first time, light weight, high performance battery cells can be economically designed so that more proprietary chemical energy can fit the available space in a portable device. Other applications in the US where we have successfully recorded over 2 million cycles without failures confirm that we have made a major step forward. We believe that our NEOCELLS^® are one of the most important new technologies for energy storage since the development of lithium ion cells more than 15 years ago. It is also important to note that these new cells are safe and environmentally friendly.”
