With a State of Emergency Declaration and widespread power outages, the batteries will help the public safety personnel communicate during the tornado disaster response. The high-capacity GTS batteries will enable the radios to run for multiple shifts without recharging.

“The Springfield Police and Fire Departments are long-standing GTS customers,” said Diane Wirtz, North American Public Safety manager at GTS. “Like all of Massachusetts, our thoughts are with those affected by the tornados.”

“We are a Massachusetts company. Many of our employees live in the affected areas,” said Larry Murray, chairman and CEO of GTS. “While we are happy that our employees are unhurt, we know that the damage in their hometowns is immense. This is our small way of lending a helping hand after these terrible storms devastated the area.”
