FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - Global Technology Systems, Inc., manufacturer of Honeywell Batteries, announced today that it had received its first Purchase Order for shipment against its recently awarded contract from the City of San Antonio.
San Antonio, the seventh largest city in the United States, was having problems with the batteries for their M/A-COM P7100 series radios not lasting a full shift.
"We had significant issues with batteries ever since we switched to the new M/A-COM P7100 radios," stated Sgt. Gabe Trevino of the San Antonio Police Department.
Since this was presenting a serious safety issue for the officers of the San Antonio Police Department their Labor Relations Committee began searching for a solution. They came across Honeywell Batteries at the 2006 IACP conference.
"Subsequent to learning about Honeywell Batteries' suite of solutions for the P7100 radio we started a comprehensive testing of the Honeywell Batteries and Chargers that lasted for one year," continued Sgt. Trevino.
The Honeywell Batteries lithium ion polymer battery, provided to the San Antonio Police Department, lasted for more than a full shift. Also developed were a suite of new chargers to support the advanced lithium technology used in the batteries as well as the City's legacy batteries.
"With Honeywell Batteries, we now have a product that has solved our longevity issue dealing with batteries. Since deploying Honeywell Li polymer batteries the complaints about radios not lasting have stopped," said Sgt. Trevino.
"We were happy to provide a custom solution to solve the power management issues facing the San Antonio Police Department and to help increase officer safety," said Jamie Friesema, Director of Sales.
Dave Rose, Director of Technical Services added, "This is just another example of how when we work closely with a customer we can develop truly innovative solutions that make a real difference for our customers. Our new P7100 suite of products, along with our suite of products for the XTS5000 developed at the request of the FBI, position us as leaders in providing Mobile Power Solutions to meet the mission critical requirements of First Responders."
